Thrilling Orchestrations. Beloved Classics. Memorable Artistry

Revival Theatre Company’s Cameron Sullenberger Overture Series is part of a new annual event that raises funds for RTC programming and education. This new series was developed in memory of our co-founder and musical director Cameron Sullenberger who passed away suddenly in 2023.

Cameron was passionate about singers and musicians; this new annual event will focus on bringing together the area’s best in the musical theatre. Celebrating classic Broadway scores and intimate solo concerts, in a two-night only event.

This program is an add on to the season and is not part of your standard season subscription. Programming and other details will be shared with the full season announcement.

Remembering Cameron

Cameron achieved a Bachelor of Music Education degree with honors in piano and voice from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music Education degree with a concentration in choral conducting from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois and He has also completed 12 hours towards a doctoral degree in Music Education.

Cameron’s greatest love came from music and teaching. Cameron taught hundreds of students, children, teens, adults all over the country. He traveled extensively to judge and assist in UIL choral workshopping clinics all over the US and was highly sought as a choral clinician.

Cameron was affiliated with numerous recording projects, national broadcasts and musical theater productions as a performer, professional musician and director. He was in demand as a singer, accompanist, adjudicator, musical director, and choral clinician. At the time of his passing he had worked on over 100 musicals and concerts.

Cameron had a successful private vocal studio (Singer By Distinction LLC), while also serving as the Senior Director of Worship, Music and Creative Arts and Spiritual Growth Coordinator at Noelridge Christian Church.  He was the Co-founder and Musical Director of Revival Theatre Company (RTC).  Since his arrival from Dallas, Texas he quickly gained a reputation for musical excellence in a multi-faceted career as an educator, performer, voice instructor and musical director.

Cameron had been affiliated with numerous recording projects, national broadcasts and musical theater productions as a performer, professional musician, and director. As a Musical Director here in Cedar Rapids, he collaborated with Orchestra Iowa, Theatre Cedar Rapids (TCR), and worked in the Cedar Rapids Public Schools as a choral director.  He taught hundreds of students during his tenure here in the Eastern Iowa Corridor.

Cameron left his mark on the Cedar Rapids music and theatre scene and we want to ensure his legacy lives on through the work Revival Theatre Company is doing today and in the years to come.

The Overture Series exists only through private and corporate donations.  This annual event supports our yearly programming and education classes and workshops. If you’d like to be a contributor to this event, please reach out to Hilery Livengood: hlivengood@revivaltheatrecompany.com
