The Cameron Sullenberger Overture Series: Thrilling Scores. Beloved Stories. Memorable Artistry.
Revival Theatre Company’s Cameron Sullenberger Overture Series is a new annual event that raises funds for RTC programs and educational offerings. This new series was developed in memory of our co-founder and musical director Cameron Sullenberger, who passed away in February 2023 during a rehearsal for our first show of 2023.
Cameron was passionate about singers and musicians, and this series reflects those interests. The new annual event will bring together the area’s best in the musical theatre and classic Broadway scores or intimate solo concerts — for a two-night-only event.
Please note: The Sullenberger Overture Series is an add-on to RTC’s season and therefore is not part of a standard season subscription.
Iowa native Christopher Johnstone and Tom Burke will be the featured performers for the second Annual Overture Series in January of 2025, at 7:30 pm at CSPS Hall as a benefit concert for RTC. General admission tickets are $82 for floor seating and $52 for riser seating.

Remembering Cameron
Cameron Sullenberger earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree with honors in piano and voice at the University of North Texas, and a Master of Music Education degree with a concentration in choral conducting from Chicago’s VanderCook College of Music. He completed 12 hours towards a doctorate in Music Education.
Cameron’s greatest loves were music and teaching. Cameron taught hundreds of students, children, teens, and adults all over the country. He traveled extensively to judge and assist in University Interscholastic League choral clinics and was highly sought as a choral clinician.
Cameron was affiliated with numerous recording projects, national broadcasts, and musical theater productions as a performer, professional musician, and director. He was in demand as a singer, accompanist, adjudicator, and musical director. At the time of his passing Cameron had worked on more than 100 musicals and concerts.
Cameron had a successful private vocal studio (Singer By Distinction LLC), while also serving as the Senior Director of Worship, Music and Creative Arts and Spiritual Growth Coordinator at Noelridge Christian Church. He was the Co-founder and Musical Director of Revival Theatre Company.
As a Musical Director in Cedar Rapids, Cameron collaborated with Orchestra Iowa and Theatre Cedar Rapids. He also taught hundreds of students while working in Cedar Rapids public schools.
Cameron left his mark on the Cedar Rapids music and theatre scene. We want to ensure his legacy lives on through the work Revival Theatre Company, both now and in the years to come.
