He also spent two decades playing lead guitar in a series of rock bands, which he describes as “just another form of musical theater.” He sees the Revival Theatre Company as a tremendous opportunity to enhance a thriving arts community and as a showcase for our region’s abundant supply of talent.

David Maier | Revival Theatre Company Board Member

David has been an enthusiastic patron of the Revival Theatre Company from the time he and his husband, Cedar Rapids native Matthew McGrane, purchased a second home on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids in 2015. While currently splitting their time between Chicago and Cedar Rapids, David and Matthew plan to permanently live in Cedar Rapids once the historic renovation of their home is complete. They are proud supporters of local nonprofits, especially the performing arts, animal welfare, and LGBT advocacy groups. David is currently on the board of the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, in which he and Matthew both perform, and was previously a board member of the About Face Theatre. He is thrilled to be serving on the board of the Revival Theatre Company.

David’s passion for the performing arts began when he starred as Mr. Dussel in his elementary school’s production of The Diary of Anne Frank, when he first experienced how theater entertains, inspires, and enlightens a community. His education and career path guided him toward a more traditional business profession, and he earned a B.S. in Accounting from Purdue University and an MBA from Northwestern University. David is also a CPA and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He currently works for PepsiCo as a Senior Finance Director in the Corporate Audit group. In his personal time, David enjoys running, reading nonfiction, following a vegan lifestyle, and listening to Matthew play the piano.
